One-Visit Crowns Made Possible by the CEREC® System

  • Saves Your Valuable Time
  • Avoids the Inconvenience of Plastic Temporary Crowns
  • Eliminates the Need for Impression Trays of Unpleasant Goo in Your Mouth!

What is CEREC?

Cerec

To us, CEREC means making dentistry easier on you! The acronym, CEREC, stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This high-tech system enables us to design, make, and place dental restorations—chiefly crowns—in only one office visit! Like the name says, this system is economical because it allows us to provide good quality crowns in less time.

In addition to saving your time, which we know is valuable, CEREC makes it so you can say goodbye to uncomfortable impression trays full of unpleasant goo in your mouth! CEREC also relieves you of the inconvenience of a plastic temporary crown while laboratory work is completed (a process that can take weeks and a series of dental appointments).

With CEREC, you can get the dental crown you need when you need it, then get right back to your busy life and the things that matter most.

How Does the System Work?

Cerec

After Dr. Temesgen has examined your tooth that needs to be repaired and consulted with you about the best course of action, your CEREC appointment will be scheduled for a convenient time for you. At your visit, we will prepare your tooth for restoration, saving as much healthy tooth structure as we can. CEREC’s restorative material is a strong, biocompatible porcelain ceramic that we can match to the color of your healthy teeth.

You might be wondering how we design CEREC restorations... With a special camera, we take several images of the tooth being treated. Working from those images, we use CEREC’s CAD/CAM software to digitally design a restoration that we are equipped to mill right in our office! It is an impressive system, and we are pleased to utilize the technological advancements that make dental treatment more effective and pleasant than ever before.

Milling & Placement of CEREC Crowns

CEREC’s computer aided milling process is extremely precise, for a naturally feeling fit when we bond the newly made restoration to the tooth. A block of ceramic restorative material is inserted into our onsite CEREC milling unit and then machined to exact design specifications sent from the computer program. After only 15 minutes or so, your restoration will be ready to be placed! If you are interested, ask us to see our milling unit in action.

We polish all restorations before bonding them to teeth, so they will look and feel as good in your mouth as natural teeth (if not better)!
