Caring for Pediatric Patients
Oral Health & Pregnancy

Did you know that your baby is developing his or her teeth while still in the womb? Did you know that a dental infection in the mouth of an expecting mother can lead to premature birth and low birth weight of the baby? While babies are growing inside us, we need to consider not only their health but our health as mothers, too, including our oral health.
What you do during pregnancy and how you care for yourself is of utmost importance for you and your baby. Regular dental checkups before, during, and after pregnancy are critical to your health and your baby's health. Dr. Temesgen has consulted with multiple Obstetricians regarding the best care for an expecting mother, and she is confident in the care she provides expecting mothers. Please don't postpone dental care because of pregnancy!
Dental Care for Your Infant, Toddler, or Child

Unfortunately, by the time many parents bring their children in for first dental appointments, the children already have one or more cavities and often are experiencing pain. But tooth decay and cavities aren't the only reason to visit a dentist! Getting an early start on regular dental care is an important step on the road to teaching your child healthy lifetime habits. The first dental visit should occur shortly after the first tooth erupts, and no later than the child’s first birthday. Beginning tooth and mouth examinations early may lead to detection of early stages of tooth decay that can be easily treated.
